French wind auction sets tone for future pricing pressure

The French market was caught by surprise by the appetite for its inaugural onshore wind auction last month, with the average winning bid coming in at EUR 65.4/MWhr. While the discount to the EUR 74/MWhr tariff cap was modest by comparison to other European auctions, it could nevertheless put pressure on the viability of existing, more generous onshore wind tariffs
