Ofgem has greenlighted a proposal by Scottish and Southern Electricity Networks (SSEN) to construct a 600MW subsea electricity transmission link from Shetland to mainland Scotland, in a move which could pave the way for the construction of at least two large-scale onshore wind projects on the island cluster.
