The Spanish renewables market is gearing up for a bumper financing and construction year in 2023 after Spain’s ministry for the ecological transition and demographic challenge (MITECO) announced on Tuesday (January 31) that a 27.9GW avalanche of 50MW-plus solar PV and wind projects ultimately secured favourable environmental impact statements (DIAs) by a January 25 deadline, although there are mounting concerns that there simply isn’t the supply chain or construction capacity in the country to bring even half of these schemes into operation by a mid-2025 commissioning deadline.
